My Studio

Finally took some photos of my studio...

Above is the desk - where I spend most of my time. I'm able to look out the window onto the front porch (with a nice view of some potted petunias, gerber daisies, chives... and a turtle wind chime). :)

Obviously I painted a lime green accent wall!

Curious what the other walls look like? Check out more photos on the Designosaurus Facebook page.

Alphabet Poster Series

Sketches for the first of a new poster series—coming soon!

I'm starting a hand lettered alphabet poster series. Within just over a year I hope to have 26 posters completed, one featuring each letter of the alphabet. The first is inspired by a combination of blackletter and western typefaces. I'm starting with ink and water colors, but we'll see where we end up by poster 26! Each will be 8.5" x 11".

Limited edition digital prints will be available of each poster as they are finished, plus a subscription plan at a discounted price for anyone who wants to purchase the entire series! I'm still working out the details, which will be posted here soon!

Handmade Home Decorating

Pillow covers to brighten up the new apartment! We settled for an inexpensive tan sofa, and needed to improve the boring tan pillows that come with it.

Left is the original pillow, and on the right is one with the new pillow cover I made! Woo-hoo handmade home decorating projects!

Poem Totes

So its been officially a million years since I've posted here. Yup, a million. But I have exciting news about a fun new collaboration project.

A good friend, Pete Res, and I will be collaborating on a poem tote bag project! Pete is writing short poems and I'll be lettering them, then they'll be silk screened on tote bags! A third friend might be silk screening them so it could be an epic 3 person collaboration, but I'll wait to mention that name until its confirmed!

Pete's idea was to expose people to poetry who might not otherwise expose themselves to it. And what a fun way to do it! More info to come.

Oh yeah, and Pete just had a poetry book published with a small publishing company called Naissance. Find his book, Smoke And The South, here.

Poster Design - Westchester Symphonic Winds

I recently did some poster design work for the Westchester Symphonic Winds. The first poster was for their concert yesterday, at the Tarrytown Music Hall, where they are the ensemble in residence. It was a really great concert, made me miss playing music a lot. But I was really happy I was able to be a part of it from the design perspective and as an audience member. Above is the poster from yesterday's concert, and be on the lookout for posters for their next two Tarrytown performances! (next time I'll be better about posting the poster BEFORE the event!)

Bandana Tote Bag

I really wanted a new sewing project the other night. At first I thought a pillow, but changed my mind and made this fun tote bag just in time for spring! I might make a few more and experiment with sizes, but this one is about 9" x 11".

It's made with 2 bandanas and a little yellow scrap fabric, along with some velcro for the three inside pockets. I love the black and yellow, they remind me of a bumble bee.

I will eventually finish that pillow...but now I'm thinking I might make some fun tote bags as well. I really want to acquire some silk screening materials so I can print my own designs on them...thats the next step. But for now, I like working with the bandanas.

I haven't worked out pricing yet, but if you would like a bag leave a comment or send me an email with color preferences! Bandanas come in so many colors, you have tons of options!
